5 Report from Gardening Volunteers
David informed that the Community Rehabilitation Group has re – laid and made good the loose slabs in the Memorial Garden, the materials were funded by the Town Council. David has noted that the Boer War monument has the same inscription as the one in the Town Park which has made it easier to identify the names inscribed. It may be possible to place a Perspex sheet over the inscription to prevent further erosion.
David has costed two sets of tennis court nets, and this will hopefully be discussed at the next Collaboration Group meeting, maybe they would consider help with re-surfacing ?
Notice boards, David has again costed these and they are expensive at approx. £1700, however it is felt that the current board is not adequate and it would be a worthwhile investment to replace it. This will be run past the Collaboration Group and hopefully the new one can be installed by the Summer Family Day. David will liaise with his team to see if this can be done.
Philip and Alison had a meeting with Delyth at the Town Council, she was very helpful and suggested that the team there can help us by providing high viz jackets and possibly stewards for the day. She suggested also that we apply for a grant of up to £300 that is available from the Town Council towards the running costs of the day.
The arrangements for the Family Day are progressing well and our thanks to Susanne who has co-ordinated most of this. Three crafters have confirmed they will be attending along with the Fire Brigade, Police, St Johns Ambulance and George Linsey. Also confirmed are Pick and Mix Circus, the Hive and Rugby Tots plus toastie van, burgers, ice cream, and bacon rolls and coffee. A Lucky Dip will replace the raffle.
An invite to be extended to the chair of the Rural Council, ( David Darkin is already attending as Town Mayor). No further invites as we are not in a position to offer any refreshments.
Suggested that we all go for a meal / curry after the day.
7 Collaboration Group
Nothing to report.
8 Any Other Business
A thank you to David Darkin for his invitation to attend an evening at the Town Council on 11th July.
It was decided that the AGM should be postponed to October as insufficient officers could attend in September. The 6th October was suggested, and an e-mail to be sent to Morrigan to see if the Museum can accommodate this.
The proposed revised constitution should go onto the web site prior to the meeting so the public have a chance to read and respond.
Meeting closed at 7.30. All meeting at the Thomas Arms for an end of year meal and to present Gareth with a picture of the Parc, as a thank you for all the work he put in as chair.
