MINUTES OF THE PARC HOWARD ASSOCIATION COMMITTEE MEETINGTUESDAY, 8TH MARCH 2016 AT 6PM IN CCC TOWN HALL, LLANELLI

2. Minutes of the previous meeting held on 9/2/16

3. Matters Arising
There were no matters arising.
4. Matters arising from the Open Meeting on 5/3/16
A discussion followed on matters raised. Members of the public were again keen
to see the cafe brought back into use and there were some ideas on fundraising.
At present, the cafe is not up to the required standard and has no kitchen
facilities. Repairs and investment are needed.
5. Update on discussions with CCC regarding the future of Parc Howard
The Chair gave an update on the meeting held with Carmarthenshire County
Council on 10th February. The meeting was positive, and plans are being
discussed for both the cafe and museum. The Parc does have to start contributing
to its running costs and some sensitive commercialisation is inevitable. Possible
plans include a Genealogy Centre, and a venue for conferences and weddings.
There is a possibility that the museum may be moved, but full discussions will take
place with all interested parties. Flexibility on all sides is key. A visit to the
Brangwyn Hall in Swansea, to view their facilities and catering, was very
6. Membership Matters
Associate membership has raised a total of £425.
Treasurer’s report; the book and craft sale raised £297.66, plus a further £207.50
from sale of refreshments, a total of £505.16. The current balance is £3774.54.
7. Update on events
The Easter event is on Monday, 28th March. We have had 20 eggs and tea and coffee kindly donated by Tesco. Jane Jones has organised an illustrator and also
has some costumes for us to dress up in. Contributions are needed for the cakes
and for raffle prizes.
cost of £10. David has also arranged for the Antioch centre to have a stand
showing recycled goods. Plants are needed for the day. Refreshments to be
arranged in the Mansion House. The Tree Council has made a generous
donation of up to 100 trees; extra volunteers are needed to help get these planted
quickly. A donation of wild flower seeds is also expected. To date, 132 hours of
volunteers’ time has been given.
9. Guided Tours of Parc Howard
Phillip has met with Gavin Evans who has agreed in principle that tours of the
house and gardens can go ahead. Phillip requested volunteers to be involved,
possibly along with Friends of the Museum. The final proofreading of Phillip’s book
has been completed and it will be printed soon. Eldon mentioned that the Blue
Badge group are doing walking tours of Llanelli and it would be excellent if these
could encompass Llanelli House, the Parish Church and the Parc.
